Young People Can Control Own Career Destiny

Expert Gives Process to Take Charge of Your Work Life

Graduating high school and coming close to the decision of what to do with the rest of your life can create an environment of pressure and stress. With the average person spending about 40 years in the work force, no wonder it seems like such a daunting task to choose one job and stick with it until you retire. In reality, the average person switches careers more than three times during their working life, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics. Although many others may frequently redesign their careers to meet needs and personal aspirations/

In his book, Make it Happen: Create Your Career – Control Your Life, author David Halstead helps young adults discover how careers can be created and molded to best suit an individual’s needs. Halstead takes readers through the “Make it Happen” program which contains exercises readers can fill out as they go. The exercises are designed to help people discover their key personality traits, attitudes, and the types of skills they possess. These exercises can also help determine how much money a year it takes to live a particular lifestyle.

“This book is designed to empower the person to be in charge of their work lives,” says Halstead. “Happy, successful people are the ones who will control their personal, work, and retirement lives.” A former high school and college teacher and counselor, Halstead is well-acquainted with young people tackling the decisions that will affect their lives as mature adults.

Halstead can discuss:

  • Unconventional paths to getting a job
  • The biggest job challenges facing Generation “Y”
  • 5 steps to creating your own work destiny
  • Career and workplace myths and realities
  • How to use your special “master keys” to open the “doors of life”
  • How to build and use your resumé
